After few days of getting inked, the skin on your tattooed area will begin to peel, often leaving few scabs on the surface, which is perfectly normal in the healing process.

HEALING A PIERCING
While washing your tattoo with lukewarm water is a good idea for getting rid of all the blood and plasma quickly, make sure you NEVER use hot water to wash your tattoo!
Don't touch your new piercing unnecessarily. Especially if it is still an open wound. Even clean hands can carry bacteria. Do not twist, spin, or move the jewelry on your new piercing. This can cause microtears and delays healing.
Avoid sleeping on your healing piercings by sleeping on your back or the opposite side to avoid irritation and migrating. Washing your pillowcase also ensures less contact with dirty surfaces or bacteria exposure.
Leave the jewelry in your new piercing for 6-8 weeks minimum even if it seems healed. Removing jewelry too early can cause irritation, or healing over.
Do not swim in pools, lakes, or hot tubs until it is fully healed. When showering, be cautious to not get soap in your new piercing.
Ointments can trap bacteria in your new piercing and prevent airflow.
Irritation is common and can be caused by things like sleeping on your piercing, friction, or touching it too much. It may look red, swollen, or form a small bump but usually goes away with proper care and removing the source of irritation.
Infections involve heat, pain, swelling, and yellow or green discharge. If you suspect one, don't remove the jewelry. Keep it clean with saline and seek help from your piercer, or a doctor.
